The Globe and Mail publishes an article on 16 March 2016 titled “To screen for Alzheimer’s or not“.
This article focuses on two brothers, Marty and Matt Reiswig, in Denver whose father is in the final stages of Alzheimer’s Disease.
A risk factor for developing Alzheimer’s Disease includes inheriting a mutated gene. Whether or not a person carries this mutated gene can be revealed through a blood test. After knowing that a family member carries this mutated gene, an important question to ask yourself would be, “Do I want to know if the deteriorating effects of Alzheimer’s Disease are inevitable in my future?”.
